Backyard Birds and friends

We are very fortunate to enjoy a multitude of species right here in our back yard in North Central Texas, year round. For years, I have had the pleasure to have photographed many of them, tiny to large, they are are unique with their shapes, colors, behaviors, and sounds or calls. It all started after I watched one of Matt K’s Birds in Flight tutorial videos when I noticed his modified backyard bird feeder. I promptly modified mine in a similar manner by adding branches that provide many perches that attract visitors in great numbers. Consequently, I’ve added a second feeder that attracted many additional birds, and this year back in April, I installed a Pondless Waterfall into a large flower bed under a Mesquite tree that now is attracting dozens of visitors daily. It’s quite fun to watch them perch on the various logs and rocks, and either take a drink or a bath, water flying everywhere, in one of several shallow pools. During one morning a few weeks ago, I had 19 different species visit the waterfall and feeders while sitting on  the patio, 15 – 30 feet away, making photographing them much easier.

Backyard Pondless Waterfall flow 3,000 Gallons per hour and provides a beautiful and constant flowing and falling sound.
