1945 Ariel VH500

I found and purchased this motorcycle in South Africa back in 1980 with the intention of restoring it and riding it in the annual DJ Rally. The inspiration came following my completing the 1980 Durban to Johannesburg Vintage Motorcycle Rally on my late stepdad’s 1934 Ariel VB 500.

Unfortunately, that never happened as I would make the decision to embark on a sailing adventure early 1982, and eventually move to the Unted States in 1985. Then, in 1986, I had this motorcycle that was in pieces, crated up and shipped to me in Texas. I restored and assembled it to its current condition, rode it around the neighborhood the parked it when I began my 12 year Drag Racing hobby.
